How to make Butterfly Wings
FLAP YOUR LITTLE BUTTERFLY WINGS
We recently celebrated the beginning of the monarch butterfly migration by hosting our own virtual “Learn about butterflies with MUSIC” event. The kiddos were able to hear a new, original song written by Crystal, learn a butterfly dance, AND learn butterfly facts which we turned into a rhythm game! The only thing I didn’t teach was how to make these easy, no-sew butterfly wings!
The majority of the idea came from a pinterest post here: https://lovelaughterforeverafter.com/how-to-make-butterfly-wings-costume/
I used some old skirts that have been in my alterations pile forever and a light scarf. I did cut the skirts because they were too long for the kids and would have been a tripping hazard. The kids fall all the time! They don’t need fabric tangling in their feet!
The only thing I did differently was to thread a ribbon or string through the loop that forms the “wings” and used that to tie over their shoulders and around to their back. It kind of made it like a backpack.
So fun, quick and EASY!
